BAGUIO CITY—Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has officially endorsed the senatorial candidacy of Medal of Valor awardee Ariel Querubin, strengthening the push for good governance and anti-corruption efforts ahead of the 2025 elections.

In a declaration made at Baguio City Hall on February 14, Magalong expressed his full support for Querubin, emphasizing their shared commitment to integrity and reform.

“If there is anyone who is genuinely in love with this country, who loves this country, and who is willing to die for this country, (Ariel Querubin) is the person,” Magalong appealed to Filipino voters.

Querubin and Magalong have a long history of fighting corruption. In 2006, they were jailed after the Marine Standoff, where Querubin and other officers took a stand against alleged government corruption. Almost 20 years later, their shared experience has turned into a steadfast advocacy for clean and accountable leadership.

“Mayor Magalong and I know what it means to put everything on the line for the truth. Ginawa na namin ito dati. Hindi kami matatakot gawin ito ulit para sa sambayanang Pilipino,” Querubin declared.

Magalong, widely respected for his no-nonsense leadership and anti-corruption stance, believes that Querubin’s integrity and courage make him a true alternative to traditional politicians.

“Suportahan sana ng ating mga kababayan ang mga taong walang bahid ng katiwalian, may takot sa Panginoon, may integridad at paninindigan,” Magalong urged voters.

With political parties ramping up their campaigns, Magalong’s support bolsters Querubin’s independent run and vision for leadership beyond partisan interests.
