Querubin calls for pension hike for all retirees, not just military

CALAMBA, LAGUNA—Independent senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin said pension increases should cover all retirees, not just uniformed personnel, during a gathering of AFP retirees, veterans, and women’s groups in Barangay Punta on March 3.

“Yung pensyon dapat itaas po yan hindi lamang para sa military kasi hindi lang naman yung military o yung mga retirees na mga men in uniform ang nasasaktan dito sa inflation,” Querubin said.

“Apektado naman tayong lahat ng inflation,” he added.

Querubin, a retired Marines officer and a Medal of Valor awardee, explained that pension rates should be regularly adjusted to match the increasing cost of living.

“Lahat po ng pensyonado, [tulad ng] mga teachers, mga nurses natin, ay dapat din maitaas ang pensyon nila,” he said.
