SANTA ROSA, LAGUNA—Independent senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin joined the flag-raising ceremony of the Santa Rosa City local government on April 7, where he addressed government employees and local officials on the importance of tackling long-standing national issues.

Querubin, a retired Marine officer and Medal of Valor awardee, said corruption, social injustice, poverty, and unemployment remain major drivers of unrest and warned that insurgency would persist if these issues are not resolved.
“Alam na alam nung Ariel Querubin ang problema ng taumbayan... for as long as these issues will not be addressed—issues such as corruption, social injustice, poverty, unemployment—insurgency will persist,” Querubin said.

Querubin added that good governance and a disciplined military are key to ensuring long-term peace.
“In what I’ve been through sa buhay ko, ang alam kong pinakamabisa na antidote sa insurgency, violent extremism, and terrorism is good governance, aided by well-disciplined men in uniform,” Querubin added.

Querubin also discussed his “BET-Ko” platform—Busog na tiyan, Edukasyong dekalidad, Trabaho at kitang sapat, at Korapsyon lalabanan—which focuses on addressing poverty and inequality through education, job creation, and anti-corruption measures.
