Querubin joins Day of Valor commemoration, calls for youth patriotism

BATAAN—Independent senatorial candidate and Medal of Valor awardee Ariel Querubin joined the Araw ng Kagitingan commemoration at Mt. Samat, Bataan on April 9, calling on the youth to embrace the values of bravery and love for country.

Addressing Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and members of the Veterans Federation of the Philippines, Querubin emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of Filipino heroes.

“Taun-taon ginugunita natin itong Araw ng Kagitingan para naman [alalahanin] natin yung kabayanihan nung ating mga ninuno, yung mga nagsakripisyo ng buhay para sa kapayapaan, para sa kalayaan natin,” Querubin said.

Querubin also urged the youth to be ready to defend the nation if needed.

“Sa inyong mga kabataan, handa dapat tayo na [mamatay] para sa mahal natin na bayan… ito ang diwa ng Araw ng Kagitingan,” Querubin said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. served as the event’s guest speaker as officials, veterans, and youth groups gathered to mark the annual observance.
