PASAY CITY—Independent senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin on Friday emphasized the need for a whole-of-government approach to peace, saying military action alone is not enough to resolve long-standing conflicts.
Speaking before Rotary Club members and business leaders at a peace forum in Pasay City on April 5, Querubin shared his experience as a peace advocate and a retired Marine officer, emphasizing that resolving insurgency and armed struggle requires political will, good governance, and inclusive development.

“Lasting peace can never be achieved if it will just be resolved by the military. It should be a whole-of-government approach,” Querubin said.
Querubin, a retired Marine officer and Medal of Valor awardee, also warned against efforts to incite unrest within the armed forces, recalling the long-term consequences of internal conflict among soldiers.

“Now that there [are] so many agitators, so many purveyors of fake news, for those who are trying to agitate the men in uniform, I have this to say: the animosity that was created from soldiers fighting each other took many years to heal,” Querubin said.
Querubin added that while his own path to peace advocacy was shaped by military service and personal sacrifice, he would not advise young soldiers to follow the same path.

In an earlier statement, Querubin stated that the military should follow and protect the Constitution. Querubin also said he would continue to push for peace-driven policies and inclusive governance if elected to the Senate.
