PASAY CITY—Independent senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin paid tribute to teachers, calling them the true heroes of the nation.
Querubin, a retired Marine officer and Medal of Valor awardee, introduced himself to 3,000 fourth-year college students and education graduates preparing for the Licensure Examination for Teachers at the Cuneta Astrodome.
“Sa totoo lang, kayong mga guro dito ngayon ang tunay na bayani,” Querubin stated.
During the event, Querubin was challenged to a push-up contest with 10 of the strongest students and emerged victorious.
Education advocate Carl Balita, who hosted the review session, endorsed Querubin’s Senate bid.

“Bilang anak ho ng pulis, Col. Querubin, itaas ko ang kamay mo Colonel,” Balita said.

Querubin, who has spent his campaign engaging with various sectors, emphasized his commitment to serving and protecting the country.
“Paulit-ulit tayong magpapakamatay o mamamatay para sa inyo, para sa mahal natin na bayan,” Querubin said.
