Querubin meets tricycle drivers, vows to fight corruption

QUEZON CITY—Independent senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin said that corruption has long burdened ordinary workers.

Querubin had lunch with tricycle drivers in Barangays Anonas and Loyola Heights on Tuesday to hear their concerns on rising prices of goods and services, healthcare access, and other daily struggles, and to share his plans to address them.

“[Ang] puno’t dulo [ng aming paghihirap ay] korapsyon,” one driver said.

Querubin agreed and cited his past efforts to stand up against corruption.

“Yung korapsyon, lalabanan natin. Nakulong tayo noon, lumaban tayo sa korapsyon. Nanindigan tayo, dalawang beses nakulong. Dalawang beses nabigyan ng amnesty,” Querubin said.

Querubin, a retired Marine officer and a Medal of Valor awardee, stressed that his experiences in the field give him a deep understanding of people’s hardship.

“Yung Ariel Querubin—alam na alam niya ang problema ng taumbayan,” Querubin said.

Querubin shared with the drivers his “BET Ko” platform, which stands for Busog na Tiyan, Edukasyong Dekalidad, Trabaho at Kitang Sapat, and Korapsyon Lalabanan, aimed at addressing hunger, education, livelihood, and corruption.
