Querubin reflects on Faith, sacrifice during Ash Wednesday visit to Quiapo

QUIAPO, MANILA—Senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin visited Quiapo Church on Ash Wednesday, March 5, taking time for personal reflection and prayer before continuing his campaign activities.

Querubin, a retired Marine officer and Medal of Valor awardee, shared how his Faith has guided him through life-threatening experiences, recalling moments when he was close to death in service to the country.

“Namatay tayo, ilang ulit muntik mamatay. Yung mga katabi ko, yung binawian [ng buhay] dahil sila ang [sumalo] ng bala para sa akin. Kapag [pinagninilaynilayan ko], siguro may gusto pang paggawa ang Lord,” Querubin reflected.

Querubin stopped by a nearby market, where he was recognized by consumers and asked about his candidacy.

“I remained independent from all the political slates kasi nag-away-away na sila. Very toxic,” Querubin said.

A consumer expressed support for his candidacy, praising his integrity and record of service.

“Sana manalo kayo, Sir. Si Sir Querubin is one of the military men na sana patuloy na maging matibay, matatag lalo na sa korapsyon,” the consumer said.
